PDP Denies Akwa Ibom Governor’s Defection To APC

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dispelled rumours that Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has moved to the All Progressives Congress.

The state chapter of the PDP in a statement said the “the intendment of this pernicious rumuor which unfortunately has arrived at the most inappropriate of moments is targeted at misleading Akwa Ibom people and perhaps causing unnecessary agitation within our party.”

The party maintained that the governor remains a member of the PDP.

Governor Udom, who is doing his second term, has also denied the report of his alleged defection.

A reliable source in the APC also described the news as untrue.
“At the level of a governor, Udom’s defection cannot be a secret.

“If he has truly defected, everyone would have known about it by now,” he said.
