Pence Writes Pelosi: I Will Not Yield To Efforts To Remove Trump

United States Vice President Mike Pence has written to the House of Representatives Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, saying that he will not “yield” to pressure to remove Trump by invoking the “25th amendment” few days to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.

Pence made this known in a letter after the House had voted in favor of Trump’s removal (223 -205) on Tuesday night.

“Last week, I did not yield to pressure to exert power beyond my constitutional authority to determine the outcome of the election.

“I will not now yield to efforts in the House of Representatives to
play political games at a time so serious in the life of our nation,” Mike Pence stated in a letter cited by Fox news on Wednesday.

The crux of the matter had been the mob attack on the U.S. capitol last Wednesday.

The attack had provoked outrage among politicians in Washington DC, including Pelosi, who accused Trump of instigating the assault on the Capitol building.

Pelosi also said that in case Pence refused to remove Trump, the House would begin impeachment proceedings.

Trump however exonerated himself from any blame, saying his effort was in defence of democracy.
