PFA Player Of The Year: Kante, Hazard, Sanchez Make Shortlist

Chelsea duo, N’Golo Kanté and Eden Hazard have been named among the six nominees for the Men’s Professional Footballers’ Association player of the year award.

They join Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku on the shortlist for this season’s major prize.

Kanté, shortlisted last year for his part in Leicester’s remarkable season but did not make the top three, is the bookmakers’ favourite, while Hazard who picked up the prize two seasons ago is also a strong contender, leading Chelsea to the summit of the Premier League.

Lukaku is the top flight’s leading scorer this term with 23 goals this season. The Belgian is also favourite to land the Golden Boot.

Ibrahimovic has scored 17 goals in his first season in English football, while Sanchez has notched 18 times to brighten up what has been a disappointing campaign for Arsenal.

Kane has netted 19 goals this term, with Spurs currently chasing league leaders Chelsea for the Premier League title.

Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez won the 2016 player of the year award.
