PFAs Invest N7tn Pension Fund In FG Securities

Out of the N9.99tn total pension assets recorded in November 30, 2019, about N7tn, representing 70.88 % of the entire fund was invested in federal government securities by Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs).

This is according to the latest pension asset report released by the National Pension Commission (PenCom).

A breakdown of the report showed that while the federal government’s securities took a huge chunk of the assets, state government securities and corporate bonds took the balance of 29.12%

Further analysis of the figures showed that the highest amount of N4.86tn was invested in the federal government bonds alone while Treasury bills had an investment of N2.1tn

The report also showed that 1.18 %( N117.79bn) of the total pension fund assets were invested by the PFAs in state governments’ securities.

The commission’s report showed that a total of N40.52bn was invested in infrastructure indicating 0.2% increase as compared to N17.12bn invested in September 2018.
