PHOTO NEWS: South East Govs Meet Service Chiefs, Others In Enugu

Governors of the southeastern states have met with Security Chiefs and heads of other security agencies to deliberate on ways to address the insecurity currently ravaging the region.

The high-level security meeting came on the heels of incessant arson attacks on government institutions and killing of police personnel in the region

THE WHISTLER gathered that apart from the governors and security chiefs, traditional and religious rulers and other stakeholders also attended the meeting.

Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, hosted attendees at the state’s government house.

The Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi, his interior counterpart, Raul Aregbesola, Service Chiefs and other stakeholders were among those that attended the meeting.

This meeting also came a day after President Muhammadu Buhari, in an exclusive interview on Arise Television on Thursday, asked Nigerian governors to take responsibility for security in their states.

Buhari had said governors must work closely with local governments and traditional rulers if they must address insecurity in their respective states.
