PHOTO SPEAK: Sanwo-Olu, Buratai, Others At Lagos City Marathon

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Yusuf Buratai, and Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Sola Ayepeku, were some of the dignitaries that graced the 2020 Lagos City Marathon on Saturday.

The Access Bank-sponsored event kicked off at the National Stadium, Surulere, on Saturday morning.

The participants were taken through the Ikoyi-Lekki link bridge down to the finishing point at Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island.

31-year-old Kenyan long-distance runner, David Bamarssai Tumo, emerged the winner of the 42km marathon.

Bamarssai won the grand prize of $50,000. His fellow Kenyan Sharon Cherop emerged the winner of the women’s category and and became the first female to cross the finish line.

The first, second and third positions in the competition went home with the cash prizes of $50,000; $40,000 and $30,000 respectively.
