Photos: Buhari, Osinbajo, Gbajabiamila, Others Celebrate Nigeria’s 59th Independence In Style

Nigeria, on Tuesday, marked its 59th Independence Day in grand style.

President Muhammadu Buhari joined other dignitaries to celebrate the event which took place at the State House, Abuja.

Present at the event were Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmed Lawal, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha amongst others.

Buhari appeared in blue traditional attire with a blue cap to match.

He first inspected a quarter guard before marching to the presidential villa’s forecourt to receive national salute which was followed by renditions of the national anthem.

There was also the staging of the conduct of change of guard’s parade, silent drill and special displays.

There was also presidential change of guard from 177 Guard Battalion to 7th Battalion of the Guards Brigade after which Buhari signed the anniversary register and released 59 pigeons from a cage.
