THE WHISTLER gathered that the fight, which started at about 4pm, was instigated by some members of the IPOB who allegedly attacked two Hausas in their shops (kiosk) around the area, got the shop destroyed and made away with some of their goods and cash.

Joseph Onome, an eyewitness, told THE WHISTLER, “I witnessed the guys as they were over 20 in number dressed in their full IPOB attire, stopped in front of the attacked shop, started beating and destroying their goods and belonging.

“They were chanting ‘leave our land and go back to your zoo.”

“They were all armed with cutlasses and some with guns as they shoot sporadically into the air to scare and chase people away.

“One of the Hausas quickly escaped and alerted their brothers who in turn came for the IPOB people.

“The Hausas resorted to destroying every shop in the area and setting buildings on fire. Burning every car they come across.”

Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has instructed a total ban on any movement or gathering of the IPOB in the state.

The governor has also declared a bounty of N50,000,000 on one Mr. Sunday Mgbere, the alleged leader of the IPOB who led the attack on the Hausa community.

The area is now on 24hour curfew and the Army is out to enforce it and prevent
further attacks.
