Police Arraigned Two Suspects For Murder In Anambra

The Anambra State police command, Tuesday, announced the arrest of two suspects over the murder of one Azuibuike Ekwegbalu, ‘m’, aged 43 years old, and a native of Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of the state. He resided at the Commissioners’ Quarters, Awka, before his death.

The suspects are 21-year-old Osita John of Ifite Ogwari in Ayamelum LGA of Anambra State, but residing at Agu Awka, and 27-year-old Achewa Musa of Abinsel in Guma LGA of Benue State, but residing in Amansea Garke.

THE WHISTLER reported the alleged murder of Ekwegbalu on the 9/8/2020, at about 1:30am, upon which police detectives attached to B’ Division, Awka, led by the DPO CSP Emma Ogbuanya, visited the scene and rushed the victim to COOUTH, Awka, where he was certified dead by the medical doctor on duty.

According to the state police PRO, SP Haruna Mohammed, “The suspects, who were arrested after painstaking monitoring, voluntarily confessed to have scaled into the deceased house, and stabbed him on his lower abdomen before carting away two of his handsets. Exhibits recovered from the suspects include the two android phones belonging to the victim and one knife allegedly used in perpetrating the heinous act.

“Following establishment of a prima facie case against the suspects, they were Tuesday, 10/11/2020, charged to court and subsequently remanded.”

Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police, CP John B. Abang, has reiterated that there is no hiding place for criminals in Anambra State, and that the command, under his watch, will continue to fish out and deal decisively with criminal elements in accordance with the law until they repent or relocate from the state.
