Police Confirm 3 Officers Dead As Gunmen Attack Division In Delta State

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the death of three police personnel at the Nsukwa divisional headquarters in Delta State.

The state’s police spokesperson, Edafe Bright, refused to speak to THE WHISTLER on the incident because of our previous exclusive story which exposed a police wireless message barring officers attached to politicians and VIPs from escorting their principals to all six states of the South East and Rivers State.

Bright, however, confirmed the incident when another of our correspondents called back and claimed to be reporting for a different media platform.

He said the police division was attacked in the early hours of Sunday.

The assailants were said to have stormed the division located in Aniocha South Local Government Area (LGA) of the state and collapsed a section of the building’s roof.

Bright said, “The details are still sketchy but there was an incident in one of the police divisions, Nsukwa. Three police officers lost their lives”.

The police noted that the slain personnel were yet to be identified, but noted that sanity had been restored to the Nsukwa community after being thrown into panic following the incident.

Bright added that investigation was underway to identify and arrest perpetrators of the act.

The state has witnessed a series of attacks on security operatives, but the attack on Sunday is the first on a police facility in recent times.
