Police Patrol Vehicle At FCT Station Back To Life After THE WHISTLER Report

The only patrol vehicle available at the Dawaki Police Division in Abuja, a Toyota Hilux, which had been parked for long, has now been repaired and is back on the road.

THE WHISTLER had published a report highlighting some of the challenges which had hindered the Police in the Federal Capital Territory from efficiently combatting crimes.

The investigative report titled “Why the Police Cannot Protect the FCT,” published on August 26, mentioned the Dawaki division as one of those without functional patrol vehicles.

An officer had told this website that the Hilux was the only available official vehicle at the station and had been parked because it had malfunctioned.

He revealed that officers at the station had resorted to using their personal vehicles for patrol, especially at night.

But on Wednesday, THE WHISTLER observed that the vehicle had been repaired and was back on patrol duties during a visit to the station.

Also, a second Hilux vehicle ( a fairly used Toyota Hilux), painted in white, has been added to the patrol fleet.

This website however, could not ascertain who gave the orders for the repair of the grounded patrol vehicle and who donated the additional vehicle.
