Presidency Slams Kano Commissioner For Celebrating Abba Kyari’s Death

The presidency has slammed the Kano State Commissioner for Works, Muazu Magaji, for allegedly celebrating the death of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

Magaji, on Saturday, shared a series of posts on what is believed to be his Facebook account, where he criticised Kyari even in death.

One of the posts read, “I am not a hypocrite and I won’t pretend! While at personal level I pray Allah grant Abba Kyari Jannah… I sincerely believe Nigeria needed a better CoS period!

Another read, “Nigeria is bigger than any individual… While praying for the president’s late support staff.. Our’s is to prevent a repeat of his non accountable dominiaring Era!,” adding that, “When you are all done with the pretence and crocodile tears, we will do a review in overriding interest of the Nation and its people!”

But responding, President Buhari’s special assistant on new media, Bashir Ahmad, berated Magaji’s action and called on the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led Kano State government to call the Commissioner to order.

Bashir tweeted on Saturday: “I am really disappointed and pained by the Kano State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Muazu Magaji’s remarks on Mallam Abba Kyari’s demise, the commissioner was seen publicly celebrating the death on his Facebook page. I hope @KanoStateNG and @GovUmarGanduje will call him to order.

“It can be easily overlooked when some minor misguided people celebrate Malam Abba Kyari or anyone’s death, but when it’s a member of Kano Executive Council, a commissioner it would be hard to do the same, Engr Magaji’s action was irresponsible, for God’s sake he is a stakeholder,” said the presidential aide.

Kyari was said to have died from complications related to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) after being diagnosed with the disease about three weeks ago.
