Residents Panic Over Electric Sparks At Efab Crystal Estate [VIDEO]

Residents of Efab Crystal Estate in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja have raised the alarm over constant electric sparks coming from a utility pole that conducts overhead power lines into the estate.

A resident, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent that the electric sparks were accompanied with loud sounds that cause panic among residents, especially during night times.

The resident of the estate located at Mike Okoronkwo Close, 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, told this website that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) was informed about the development some weeks back, and that the company promised to send its technicians to look into the matter.

He, however, said weeks after the AEDC was informed about the problem, the distribution company was yet to send its officials to fix the fault.

The resident said himself and others in the area had been living in fear that the electric cables on the utility pole may drop at any time should the AEDC fail to quickly fix the problem.

“We have informed them (the AEDC) about this problem for some weeks now with no response,” said the resident.

“I’m aware that electric sparks could result from abrupt electrical discharge due to sufficiently high electricity supply. This, in my opinion, is too dangerous to be ignored for too long. So we’re urging them to act fast to avoid stories that touch,” he said.
