The statement read that, “Fr Joachim Cabanyes was such a nice, easy-going, cordial, generous, prayerful, and dedicated pastor. He hailed from Spain, but loved our people so much, and always attended our diocesan functions. His body has just been laid to rest, following the NCDC guidelines. Please as we pray for his peaceful repose, let us know that Covid-19 is real, and we will do well to observe all the necessary health precautions and safety measures.”

Some Catholic fruitful in Enugu told our correspondent on Sunday that the late priest was an epitome of love and Godliness. Mr Obinna Ossai said, “Fr Joachim Cabanyes was an exemplary man. He epitomized love. His death came to us as a rude shock. It should also remind us that Covid-19 is real. Let us be careful.”

Oliver Ogbuka said, “The memories of Fr Joachim Cabanyes would continue to linger with anybody who ever came across him. His value system is worth emulation. May he find joyous moments in the hereafter.”
