Saraki Meets Obasanjo In Abeokuta

Barely a week after meeting former military ruler, Ibrahim Babangida, in Minna, Niger State, Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki has visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his Ota, Abeokuta residence in Ogun State.

Saraki met Obasanjo on Monday behind closed-door at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library which is situated within the former President’s residence.

It was learnt that Saraki, who was in company of his media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu, did not entertain much questions from reporters.

While it remains unclear why the Senate President is visiting elder statesmen in the country, there are indications that the visits may not be unconnected with the 2019 general elections.

Saraki had only recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It equally remains ambiguous at the moment if the Senate President will be running for the 2019 Presidency or not.

Saraki’s defection from the APC had put him at odds with ruling party, whose chieftains have been calling for the Senate President’s resignation from office.
