SDP Holds Governorship Primary In Ekiti

The Social Democratic Party, SDP in Ekiti State is holding its governorship primaries across all the local government areas of the state.

The approach of SDP in choosing its flag bearer ahead of the 2018 governorship election in the state differs from the other parties as delegates do not decide the outcome of the election.

Rather, all members of the party will vote for the candidate of their choice and the primary will hold at the various wards in the 26 local government area of the state.

The distribution of electoral materials commenced in the morning at the party secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Among the contestants for the party’s ticket are Olamide Oni, a serving member of the House of Representatives who defected from the APC to the party; a former deputy governor of the state, Chief Adebisi Omoyeni, former Ambassador to Canada, Chief Dare Bejide and Mr. Oladele Ayegbusi amongst others.

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state had conducted a hitch free election on Tuesday where the deputy governor, Prof Kolapo Olusola emerged the party’s flagbearer.
