Senate Meets Service Chiefs Over Insecurity

The Service Chiefs are currently at the Nigerian Senate to deliberate on the security situation across the country.

The security briefing, slated for February 7, with Senate President, Godswill Akpabio was rescheduled over the absence of some of the security heads.

The meeting, now behind closed doors is in line with the Senate’s rules regarding security briefings.

All Service Chiefs including the Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser (NSA); Christopher Musa, chief of defence staff; Taoreed Lagbaja, chief of army staff; Emmanuel Ogalla, chief of naval staff; and Hassan Abubakar, chief of air staff.

Others include Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police (IGP); and Yusuf Bichi, director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS), Ministers of Finance and Interior.

The country has witnessed a deteriorating state of insecurity across the country with insurgency, kidnapping, killing and ethnic-religious crisis ravaging the country.
