Stop Interacting With Taiwan, China Warns US

The Chinese Government has reacted to the visit of a United States delegation to Taiwan.

The US Department of State’s Spokesperson, Morgan Ortagus, had on Wednesday, disclosed that its officials would be in Taiwan for a diplomatic function, among others.

“Under Secretary Krach @State_E is on his way to Taiwan to attend the funeral service of Lee Teng-hui.

“As Taiwan’s first democratically elected president, Lee ushered in a new era of democracy, economic prosperity, openness, and rule of law,” Morgan tweeted on Wednesday.

Also, Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry welcomed the US’ delegation, adding that it cherished its relations with the US.

“The warmest of welcomes to @State_E @KeithJKrach, @DRL_AS & the U.S. delegation.

“We genuinely appreciate the group’s Sept. 17-19 visit, and trust it will deepen friendship and strengthen relations between like-minded partners #Taiwan and the #US.,” it tweeted.

But, China frowned on the US delegation’s visit.

The Office of China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, tweeted on Thursday that “China will make necessary responses in light of the development of the situation.”

“We urge the US to immediately stop any official exchanges with the Taiwan region or trying to upgrade their interactions,” it added.

Recall that China had maintained that Taiwan, like Hong Kong, was part of its jurisdiction.

The US’ side has yet to respond to China’s reaction, as of the time of this report.
