2019: I’m Yet To Declare For Abia Governorship – Ex-Speaker

Former Abia State House of Assembly speaker, Martins Azubuike, has said he is yet to declare his interest in the 2019 governorship position of the state.

In a statement on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Clinton Uba, Azubuike said the rumors that he declared for Abia governorship was “unfounded, imaginary, a figment of the maker and should be discountenanced”.

Azubuike, who is currently a sitting member of the state Assembly representing Isiala Ngwa North State constituency, had recently decamped to the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

He said, “The attention of the Member Representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency and the former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Okechukwu Azubuike has been drawn to the news trending in the news media to the effect that he held a meeting in his house on Sunday 18th February, 2018, and in the said meeting, declared his intention to run for the Governor of Abia State in 2019 elections.

“To put the matter succinctly, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike left Abia State on Friday 16th February, 2018 and is yet to return to the State.

“He is only a law maker and has not been known as a magician, therefore could not have been in two places at the same time.
