It was drama at the Federal High Court Abuja as a lawyer who had appeared to represent the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnmadi Kanu was disowned by his younger brother, Emmanuel.
The case which came up on Monday was stalled as the lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, was asked not to represent the IPOB leader who is been charged for treason.
Vincent Obetta, Kanu’s lawyer, who has represented him since the beginning of his trial at a lower court, was not in court.
It would be recalled that on December 23, 2015, Kanu had refused to take his plea before Ahmed Mohammed, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, citing lack of confidence in the court.
Earlier, Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the federal high court Abuja, had ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to release him unconditionally, and after a chief magistrate court discharged and acquitted of charges of criminal intimidation and ownership of unlawful society.
