BREAKING: ‘You Lack Powers To Prosecute Serving Judges,’ Court Tells EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) lacks the powers to prosecute serving judges, a Lagos State Court of Appeal ruled on Monday.

The Court said unless in cases where judicial officials have been sacked by the National Judicial Council (NJC), the EFCC cannot prosecute or investigate them.

The Appeal Court’s ruling counters an earlier judgement of the Supreme Court that granted the EFCC powers to prosecute Justice Hydiazira Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court, as well as several other serving judges.
