Breaking News: Edo Assembly Speaker and Deputy Impeached
Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Victor Edoror has been impeached alongside his deputy Bright Osayande.
The Speaker and his deputy were impeached today by 16 of the 24 members of the Edo State House of Assembly over “incompetence and misconduct”.
Following this development, Elizabeth Ative has been elected speaker of the assembly by the members while Mr Justin Okonobo was nominated as deputy speaker.

The impeachment followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Mr Folly Ogedemgbe and seconded by Mr Patrick Illuobe.
“This is an impeachment notice signed by 16 members that the speaker Victor Edoroh and his deputy, are hereby impeached,’’ Ogedemgbe said during the house sitting.
Suspected thugs invaded the House of Assembly Complex immediately the new speaker took her seat, which prompted security operatives to immediately swing into action, taking control of the premises and restored calm at the Assembly
