Breaking News: Supreme Court Affirms Yahaya Bello As Kogi Governor

The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the elected governor of the State.

According to the commission, Bello inherited the largest number of votes from leading candidate in the election, Prince Abubakar Audu who died shortly before his pronouncement as winner of the election.

Running-mate to the late Audu, James Faleke had challenged the decision of the APC to substitute Bello for Audu at the Kogi state election petition tribunal. His petition was however dismissed.

Dissatisfied with the judgment, Faleke headed to the appellate court, which also threw out his appeal.

The decision of the apex court today, has put an end to the legal tussle.
