CAF Awards: Victor Moses Misses Out As Salah, Mane, Aubameyang Make Final Shortlist
Super Eagles and Chelsea star Victor Moses has failed to make the final three-man shortlist for the CAF African Player of the Year award as Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon made the final cut.
Salah has been tipped to take home the award, as recently the Liverpool man was named the BBC African player of the year but face fierce competition from fellow teammate Mane and Dortmund’s Aubameyang.
The final shortlist, selected from an initial list of 30, was unveiled on Monday by the Africa’s football apex body CAF at the Movenpick Hotel, Accra, Ghana.
Meanwhile on the women’s category, Super Falcons striker Oshoala, Chrestina Kgatlana of South Africa and Gabriela Ongueni of Cameroon were announced as the final three nominees for the award.
While Super Eagles head coach Gernot was also nominated in the final three-man shortlist for the Coach of the Year and alongside Egypt’s coach Hector Cuper and Wydad Casablanca’s L’Hussein Amoutta.
Nigeria also made the shortlist of the national team of the year and will slug it about with African champions Cameroun and Egypt.
