Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that he is not under any sort of pressure to resign from his position.

The acting president said this in response to rumours making round on the social media, that he was pressured by a special interest to vacate his position.

Speaking to State House correspondents immediately after a meeting with the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Osinbajo said, “I’m absolutely under no pressure to resign. In any event, I was voted for by the people of this nation – myself and Mr President, and the people of this nation have not asked us to resign.

“So I have absolutely no pressure whatsoever and the truth is that there have been absolutely no pressure whatsoever from any source asking me to resign.”

Osinbajo and the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, held a closed-door meeting at the presidential villa.

The meeting was allegedly held to deliberate on the health of the president, as well as the state of the economy, amongst other matters.

Osinbajo has however maintained that “the President is hale and hearty.

“I spoke to him just this afternoon and we had a long conversation.

“He was interested in knowing about the budget process and how far we have gone and the meeting today with the private sector and the economic recovery growth plan and I informed him about the protest march and feedback about what people are saying about the economy. He is in good shape.”
