Omokri To Buhari: You Don’t Need $1Bn To Fight ‘Technically Defeated’ Boko Haram
Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s ex-aide, Reno Omokri, has wondered why the Muhammadu Buhari administration wants to withdraw $1 billion from the Excess Crude Account to fight the Boko Haram sect it claimed to have defeated.
President Buhari, it would be recalled, said recently that the Boko Haram insurgents had been “massively degraded,” describing the recent attacks of the terrorists as the “last kicks of a dying horse” that cannot last long.
The WHISTLER equally recalls that the current government had times without number claimed it had wiped out the insurgents from Nigeria’s North East.
“Let me be clear, Boko Haram has been massively degraded and its surviving members put on the run…What we are witnessing now are the last kicks of a dying horse…A dying horse manages to engage in some kicks. These kicks may be dangerous, but they don’t last long,” the president said recently.
But reacting to the Buhari administration’s bid to use the said $1 billion to fight the insurgents, Omokri suggested that another deceit of the current government have been “overtaken by truth”.
“But wait. The Buhari administration wants to take $1 Billion from the Excess Crude Account to fight Boko Haram? Was it not just weeks ago that they said Boko Haram is finished? Did they not say Boko Haram were ‘technically defeated’?,” Omokri queried.
“Who spends $1 billion on a finished defeated foe? You see, no matter how fast and far falsehood has traveled, it MUST eventually be overtaken by truth!
The ex-presidential aide further slammed the Buhari-led government for wanting to withdraw the said sum from the Excess Crude Account previously described as illegal by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“All of a sudden, the Excess Crude Account that the APC said was illegal under Jonathan has suddenly become legal enough under Buhari for the government to now withdraw $1 billion from it. These people have lied so much that they don’t know what is true or false anymore! The sad thing about the Buhari government is that since it can no longer hide the truth, it is now hiding from the truth.”
