Pinnick-Giwa Row: Peace Meeting Ends In Deadlock

The peace meeting between the Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick, and Ambassador Chris Giwa coordinated by the House Committee of Sports on Thursday ended in a deadlock.

The Chairman of the committee, Goni Bukar, confirmed that the meeting will continue next Tuesday at the House chambers, where the duo are expected to resume their issues amicably.

“What was discussed was not made public as only Giwa, Pinnick and the committee sat and discussed at the meeting. But they have been advised to collaborate and are expected to reach a compromise next week,” a source at the National Assembly said.

Both parties came out of the over three hours long closed door meeting smiling with Giwa commending the lawmakers for their intervention, adding that the meeting was fruitful.

“We had a very fruitful meeting on the way forward,” Giwa said.

“And as I will always say we must try and mend fences and I think that is the way we are looking at the matter. The media will be duely informed of developments in the coming days as another meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday next week.”

Giwa further dismissed any suggestions thast he was desperate for the NFF top job, noting that he only wants to enforce his fundamental human rights as embedded in the constitution.

“God’s willing, we shall get to our Eldorado in football in this country.”

Pinnick, who also described the meeting as a fruitful one declared that he will continue to adhere to the rule of law.

Both parties are expected to meet again next week Tuesday.
