Following reports that the Federal Government was contemplating imposition of state of emergency in Ekiti and Rivers state,
Governor Ayodele Fayose has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against the alleged plans.
The Ekiti state governor who was in Abuja to attend the National Economic Council (NEC) retreat on the economy, gave the warning while speaking with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Fayose, who asserted that power has gone back to the people, cautioned leaders to beware of the actions they take while in office as such decision may hunt them in the future
He said, “They have been insinuating that in Ekiti. We have been waiting for them. Power has gone beyond the leaders, power has gone back to the people. There are certain things leaders will do today, you will eat it tomorrow.
“You want to declare state of emergency, declare it and we will tell you that the state of emergency will not work. This country belongs to all of us.”
