It was mixed reactions for three Nigerians involved in the UEFA Champions League play-offs on Tuesday night.

Nosa Igiebor’s Macabbi Tel Aviv, reached the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in 11 years after playing out a 1-1 draw with Swiss giant Basel with an aggregate score of 3-3.

The Nigerian who was substituted in the 70th minute, saw his side hold on for a hard earned draw and advanced to the group stage courtesy of their better away goals.

However, it was a different story for the other Nigerians involved on the night as Elderson Echiejile’s Monaco was eliminated on the night despite scoring as a late substitute in a 2-1 win over Valencia, the late winner was not enough as they fell 4-3 on aggregate.
