Update: Five Killed, 17 Injured As Bomb Explosion Hit University Of Maiduguri

No fewer than four persons were killed, and 17 others injured after two suicide bombers detonated their explosive devices at the University of Maiduguri, Borno State.

The first incident which occurred around 5am when the Muslims went to Mosque for early morning prayers, also claimed the life of a professor of the university.

It was gathered that the second explosion occurred near the university’s 5th gate usually used by pedestrians.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) spokesperson, Sani Datti, said “one of the suicide bombers detonated his explosion at a Mosque near gate 1 when people were observing their early morning prayer, the second one occurred around gate 5 of the University.”

The bodies of those killed have been evacuated to the mortuary, while those injured have been moved to a nearby hospital within Maiduguri town.
