“Money Woman” is a practice where women are married out in exchange for a loan taken by their families.

In Obanliku, the girls are given out as young as age 4 in exchange for a loan of N2, 000 or in some cases, tubers of yam, goats, pigs by their families.

The worst part, however, is that if the moneylender dies, the young girl gets taken over by the next of kin and if she dies without bearing a child, her family will offer a replacement with another girl.

Despite the digital technology that is fast taking over the world, some cultures in Nigeria has refused to succumb to the 21st century but rather modify slavery.
