President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of an Intelligence Fusion Centre in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

This is coming amid rise in terror related deaths in the North-east especially Borno and Adamawa states.

At least 50 people were killed recently when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a mosque in northeast Nigeria, police said, in an attack blamed on Boko Haram jihadists.

The incident occurred in the popular Shiwa mosque located at Anguwar Medina in Yelwa quarters of Mubi, the commercial nerve centre of Adamawa state. According to eyewitness, the two suicide bombers ran from two directions into the mosque at exactly 5:05am.

Security analysts said the attack again underlined the threat posed by Boko Haram, despite an overall decline in deaths from attacks by the group last year.

The attack bore all the hallmarks of Boko Haram, the Islamist militants whose insurgency has left at least 20,000 people dead and more than 2.6 million others homeless since 2009.
