The cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately but there are claims from his supporters that it might have been the handiwork of some Fulani who he has vowed to chase away from the entire South-West.

Residents said fire fighters came but some parts of the building had been destroyed by the fire before their arrival.

It was also gathered that Igboho was living in the house until he relocated to the new house he built in Ibadan.

Igboho recently served the Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Salihu Abdukadir, a quit notice and despite the warning from Governor Seyi Makinde he returned to the town.

Some youths who accused the Seriki of being behind the kidnappings, armed robbery and killings in Ibarapaland stormed the residence and set it ablaze.

Igboho had said during a radio programme in Osogbo on Monday that he had the backing of traditional rulers in Yorubaland to rid the region of criminal herdsmen-.
