‘Mysterious’ Fire Destroys Property Worth Millions Of Naira In Enugu

Household materials, including electronics, clothes, and furniture were Wednesday evening destroyed by fire at Ogrute, headquarters of Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

THE WHISTLER reports that the incident occurred at a private facility located at Onyeachonam Crescent, MCC-Aji Road, Enugu Ezike.

The owner of the complex, Sir Dr Anselm Odo, the medical director, All Anointed Saints’ Medical Laboratory Nig Ltd, described the inferno as ‘mysterious’.

According to him, “It is mysterious because the building is not connected to electricity, and we don’t keep gas cylinders or other inflammable materials there. It is a one-storey building. The ground floor was not affected. But the upstairs was totally gone. Everything was burnt. It took the intervention of neighbours and sympathisers to bring the situation under control. It would have been a different story. The kids were successfully rescued.”

Dr Odo said he lost millions of naira to the inferno, but expressed gratitude to God that ‘no lives were lost’. He also commended the sacrifices of those that put out the fire.

He said, “I appeal to governments at all levels to assist us because things are hard. The repairing of the damaged building as well as replacement of burnt items is where we need assistance. But all glory to God because in every situation, we should give glory to God. It would have been worse.”
