This Is Best Time For Igbos To Unite – Ohanaeze Chieftain

The 2023 presidential race has been described as the best opportunity for Ndigbo to take the presidency if they can come together and speak with one voice.

Igbo youths have also been advised to shun activities capable of going against the grains of the law in their demand for a president of Nigeria of the Southeast extraction.

This was stated, Monday, by a chieftain of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and chairman of Ohanaeze, Enugu-East Local Government Area of Enugu State, Chief Hyacinth Ugwuokwor, during an exclusive interview with THE WHISTLER in Enugu.

While agreeing that the Southeast region of the country had been shortchanged in the political and infrastructural equation of the country, Chief Ugwuokwor however called for caution.

In his words, “This is the best time for Igbo people to understand that we have been short-changed in the nation’s polity for a long time. We should unite and fight for our rights. The last time an Igbo man was president/head of state was the era of Gen Aguiyi Ironsi. We are being cheated. I pray that God intervene this time around.

Southeast contributes immensely to the economy of this country, and it will only be justified for equity and justice if an Igbo man or woman is elected president of this country in 2023. I also advise Igbo youths to avoid taking laws into their hands in the face of our marginalisation. Let us approach this through the provisions of the law and rules of engagement, including engaging our brothers from other zones. Every Igbo man has a talent, and this is the time to apply our intelligence correctly. Larger Nigeria cannot do without the Igbo nation.”
