Thousands of Rivers residents loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara have gathered around the government house in Port Harcourt on Thursday morning to welcome the governor back to his office today.
Momentum is building in front of Rivers State Government House as supporters and loyalists of the reinstated governor, Siminalayi Fubara, are coming out in droves to welcome him.
The governor, who is reported to be coming from London this morning, is expected to resume office today.
THE WHISTLER observed that the state is bustling with expectations as the supporters in different customs and regalia had a procession around the Government House, while others were seen dancing, and some others, especially women, were holding prayer sessions.
Residents who spoke with THE WHISTLER said they cannot contain their excitement at seeing their governor back.

Some others explained that they trooped out in solidarity to give the governor a rousing welcome, noting that it is a new dawn for the state.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had lifted the emergency declaration barely 12 hours ago, and the state is on the verge of picking up from the good old days when the executive and legislative arms are in unity.
Also, the day seems to be a defining day in the history of the state, as the three arms of government, the executive, legislature and judiciary, resumed.
Rivers State Judiciary says the High Court of Rivers State will resume normal court sittings from Thursday, 18th of September, 2025.
You would recall that the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi, had earlier announced that judges of the high court of the state should proceed on annual vacation, which commenced from Monday, 21st of July to Wednesday, 17th of September, 2025.

Justice Chibuzor-Amadi also appointed some vacation judges who handled some cases during the period of vacation.
In a statement by the Chief Registrar, High Court of Rivers State, David Ihua-Maduenyi
urged members of the public to take note of the resumption of normal court sittings and resume their normal business at the court.
This is as sources in the Assembly said the lawmakers are likely to sit to resume legislative duties.
The crowd, drawn from across the state, most of them with local musical instruments, began gathering around 8 am, beating and singing solidarity songs for the reinstated governor.
Meanwhile, security operatives can be seen pinned at strategic positions in anticipation of any eventual breakdown of law and order.
Generally, the state is bustling with the normal day’s activities, where shop owners observe their weekly Thursday sanitation.
