Truck Crushes Seven To Death, Injured Many In Ogun

No fewer than seven persons were reportedly crushed to death by a driver who lost control of his truck and crashed into some trycycles parked at the Bell Junction, Ota area of Ogun State.

Our correspondent gathered that several other persons were injured in the accident which happened on Thursday.

Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the driver was heading toward Idiroko area of the state when he lost control of the vehicle. The driver was said to have swerved to avoid crashing into some vehicles.

He was said to have lost control of the truck in the process and crushed some. commuters standing by the roadside before crushing the trycycles and their occupants.

Angered by the accident and the loss of lives, a crowd of eye witnesses were said to have beaten the driver mercilessly and was only rescued from being lynched by some persons who claimed to have seen how he struggled to prevent loss of lives.

The truck was reportedly set on fire by the angry crowd while some of the injured persons were reportedly given first aid treatment at the scene by officials of The Bells University.

The Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Ahmed Umar, confirmed the death of two persons.

The FRSC commander said his men could not carry out rescue operation because of the violence at the scene of the accident.
