Twitter Flags Trump’s Tweet Again, Says President Glorifying Violence

After earlier describing President Donald Trump’s tweet as “misleading,” Twitter has again flagged tweets by United States President, for appearing to glorify violence which constitutes a violation of its rule.

Trump, while reacting to the burning down of a police station by protesters in Minnesota enraged by the murder of George Floyd by security personnel, had twitted:

“These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”

Floyd died on Monday after a white Minneapolis police officer used his knee to pin his neck to the ground for several minutes.

But Twitter in a swift reaction, said the president’s tweet violated its rule about glorifying violence.

It however stated that the tweet maybe in the public interest and would let it remain accessible

“This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about glorifying violence. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.”

Recall that Twitter had on Tuesday put a warning label on the president’s tweet for the first time, saying that Trump’s tweet contains “potentially misleading information about voting processes.”
