U.S. Speaker Pelosi Tears Copies Of Donald Trump’s Speech At State Of Union

The United States President, Donald Trump, on Tuesday, delivered a formal State of the Union address at the House Chamber where he was impeached.

Trump was seen refusing a handshake from U.S. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the incident which led Pelosi to tear copies of the speech delivered by Trump even before the U.S. president left the chamber.

Recall that Pelosi and Trump’s camps  have been tackling each other on issues bordering on policy and leadership, leading to the impeachment trial ( on an alleged abuse of power and obstruction of congress) of the president billed to end soon.

“The manifesto of mistruths presented in page after page of the address tonight should be a call to action for everyone who expects truth from the President and policies worthy of his office and the American people,” Speaker Pelosi said at the meeting.

Guardian UK reports that Trump’s 78-minute speech sought to look past impeachment to his re-election in November, touting his accomplishments, claiming a strong economy, the killing of the Iranian general Qassem Suleimani and the passage of a bipartisan criminal justice reform bill.

In his address, Trump said that the American economy is ever strong and has grown past the achievements of former presidents, and he also promised more jobs for the American people.

“Our economy is the best it has ever been” and he also said that average unemployment is lower now than “any administration in the history of our country”.

He also stressed that the era of allowing people come into the country illegally has reduced as his administration is building walls to secure the nation; he also alleged that when illegal immigrants are caught by authorities, they are promptly returned back to their country.

The Republican controlled Senate are expected to vote on Trump’s acquittal or impeachment today.

But the website observed that virtually all the Republican senators said yesterday that they would vote to acquit the president.
