VIDEO: Saraki Hits Buhari, Says Anti-Gaft War ‘Propaganda Than Reality’

The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has taken a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his anti-corruption fight as “more of propaganda than reality”

Speaking during a one-on-one chat with Channels TV’s Seun Okinbaloye on Wednesday, Saraki said the Buhari administration has taken Nigeria backwards in terms of “our indices in corruption” because the President allegedly lacks the will to make corrupt persons around him face the law.

The Senate President, who is the Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign organisation, challenged President Buhari to prove that he is sincere about his anti-graft war by ordering the prosecution of those found wanting in his government.

Saraki said, “We go to the issue of corruption. I believe that is more of propaganda than reality. Why do I say that? Even by most of the world organisations, if you look at our indices in corruption, we have gone back. And more importantly what examples are they showing in the government and anybody in the government been prosecuted in the public. None. Zero.

“If truly the president is fighting corruption, I am baffled how a member of his government who they found wanting, up till today, no charge, no prosecution.

“To me, once you can’t do that, you lose the moral high ground to say that you are fighting corruption. You must show that nobody is above the law. You must show that no matter how close anybody is to you, you must take action and that’s not happening.”
