We Would Hunt Down Those Who Burnt Anambra Vigilante Office, CP Adeoye Vows

The unknown gunmen that attacked the office of the vigilante group of Amichi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State will be brought to book.

Our correspondent reports that the invaders carried out the attack on Thursday morning, setting a stationary security van and a guard inside it ablaze in the process.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, on Sunday, stated that everything possible would be done to bring the perpetrators to book. According to him, “No stone will be left unturned in hunting down the gunmen who attacked and burnt the vigilante office at Amichi.”

His assurance was contained in a release by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga.

The CP, in the release, prayed for the repose of the soul of the dead. He also commiserated with the bereaved family, assuring that the dead would not be vain.

The PPRO stated that, “CP Adeoye commended vigilante groups across the state for their commitment to the protection of the citizenry and assured that the police would do all within their powers to protect them.”

The commissioner therefore directed Police Tactical Teams and Special Forces across the state to respond promptly to all distress calls from vigilante groups anytime they come under attack.
