We’ll Use Police, Military To Pursue IPOB — Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his administration will use the police and military to go after members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and stop insurrections in parts of the country, especially the South East region.

Buhari said this against the backdrop of allegations that the paramilitary wing of the separatist group, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), was behind the burning of police stations and offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the region.

“That IPOB is just like a dot in a circle. Even if they want to exit, they will have no access to anywhere,” the president said.

“The way they (Igbos) spread all over country having businesses and property, I think IPOB does not know what they talking about.

“In any case, we will talk to them in the language they understand, we will organise the police and the military to pursue them. That’s what we can do and we will do it”.

Buhari, however, disclosed that he had been advised by “the elderly people” and “the youths” from the South East and South-South part of the country that their regions have no intention of seceding.

The South East has been faced with the menace of insecurity in the last four months and the threats have heightened following increased demands by IPOB for secession of the region from Nigeria.
