We’re Ready To Meet Adeosun In Court Over ‘Forged Certificate’ – Premium Times

Nigerian online news medium, Premium Times, has challenged the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, to file a legal suit against its platform to disprove its investigative report that she allegedly forged her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.

The news medium had in a recent exclusive story, reported that the NYSC exemption certificate Mrs Adeosun submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari before she was made finance minister in 2015 was forged.

The report, which raised eyebrows when it was first released, spells a huge embarrassment for the Buhari administration as the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the sack of the minister.

Insisting that the report was authentic and verifiable, Premium Times publisher, Mr Dapo Olorunyomi, expressed the newspaper’s readiness to meet the minister in court to defend their finding.

Olorunyomi said this at the University of Ilorin’s 9th annual lecture which was organised by the institution’s Department of Mass Communication.

The lecture was titled “Independent Journalism at the Interface of the Digital Transition”.

The publisher said, “Adeosun forged her exception certificate. The story is real. We did a water-tight investigation that took us three months before we came out with the story. We encourage her to go to court if she will like to prove us wrong.”
