What Buhari, Obasanjo Said During Atiku’s Turbaning As Waziri Adamawa

Former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, on Sunday, stormed Adamawa State for the official turbaning of the 2019 presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as the 7th Waziri of Adamawa Emirate.

Atiku, who clocked 72 years of age today, is now the next in hierarchy to the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo.

The former vice president clinched the Waziri title for his immense contributions to the development of the country, particularly Adamawa state, according to Birkindo.

“Atiku has also contributed greatly to unifying the people of Adamawa and providing useful advise to the emirate,” he said.

“The position of Waziri, which is the highest in the council puts him in charge of administration of the emirate and is given to people who are educated, honest and God fearing.

“It’s not hereditary and can go to anyone who deserves it.”

Speaking at the occasion, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of FCT, Alhaji Musa Bello, wished Atiku a successful reign as the new Waziri.

Also speaking at the event, former president Obasanjo, said, “I assure you that he will carry out his tasks with dignity, respect, honour and you will be proud of him”.

Also in attendance at the occasion were Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker Yakubu Dogara, former vice president Namadi Sambo, amongst others.
