Why DSS Arrested Sowore

The 2019 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omowole Sowore, has been picked up by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Sowore’s arrest was announced early Saturday by his publishing platform, Sahara Reporters.

Prior to this, Sowore had tweeted at about 1:25 a.m. that his house was allegedly being invaded by the DSS operatives.

His news medium later confirmed that that the AAC presidential candidate was picked up at his apartment in the early hours of today.

Meanwhile, prior to the development, Sowore had on Friday posted some tweets against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari over the reported killing of a Catholic of priest in Enugu State by suspected herdsmen.

His arrest may not be unconnected with the tweets.

“A Catholic Priest was killed in Enugu and now five Redeem Church Of God pastors have been kidnapped, if you still have the illusion that the @MBuhari regime can protect you, well, Goodluck!,” he tweeted.

He had earlier accused the Presidency of sending “fake protesters” to stage a protest against Amnesty International, Nigeria, on Friday. The protesters had asked the human rights organisation to live the country.
