…Police Vow To Arrest Culprits
A female restaurant owner, identified as Amaye, has been lynched and set ablaze by a mob over alleged blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad.
The incident took place on Saturday in Kasuwan-Garba town, Mariga Local Government Area, Niger State.
According to reports, the incident started after a customer jokingly expressed interest in marrying her, while citing the tradition of the Prophet.
Amaye allegedly responded in a manner considered offensive, which provoked anger among some community members.
She was first taken to the palace of the District Head of Kasuwan-Garba, who then handed her over to security operatives for investigation.

However, before the inquiry could proceed, the mob overwhelmed the security personnel and lynched her.
Abbas Adamu Kasuwan-Garba, Chairman of Mariga LGA, confirmed the incident.
The Niger State Police Command, in a statement issued in Minna by its spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, described the act as a clear case of jungle justice and vowed to arrest the culprits.
“On 30/8/2025 at about 2:00pm, report received indicated that one Amaye, a female of Kasuwan-Garba, Mariga LGA, allegedly made some utterances considered offensive to the Islamic faith. Unfortunately, it led to a mob attack, and the woman was set ablaze before the reinforcement of the security teams could arrive at the scene,” Abiodun said.
The police spokesman appealed to members of the public to avoid taking law into their hands and to allow security agencies to handle sensitive matters in accordance with the law.
