He said the EndsSARS protest clearly showed that many Nigerians youths had become frustrated by the hardship in the country, saying the situation now was an opportunity for the leadership to right all the wrongs.

Olajide, who is a medical doctor, however appeal to the youths to stop their street protest and find a way to engage the leadership in a dialogue in order not to lose whatever gains the protest might have recorded.

The YCE scribe said “The Yoruba Council of Elders is using this opportunity to appeal to our youths to suspend street protests.

” Everybody knows the youths are justifiably angry and they have registered their displeasure about the situation of things. The YCE is now asking them to please sheathe their swords and go off the streets.

“They must also not ethnicise the national problems and they must refuse to be provoked to destroy our patrimony and proud heritage of our fatherland.

” Don’t be provoked to destroy our infrastructure and other assets which our very patriotic forefathers built. Destruction of our assets will worsen the bad situation at hand and we must avoid this.

“The political leadership elite- the Federal Government, the National Assembly and state governors must rise up and Initiate the process of addressing these problems raised during the protest.

“They must right all wrongs and correct the injustice in the system immediately.”

Olajide said he believed Nigeria could be put back on the path of greatness but said a new constitution which would be the foundation for restructuring was needed to achieve this.
