Following the summon of President Muhammadu Buhari by the National Assembly over the economic recession currently besetting the country, the presidency, on Friday, revealed that it is yet to be officially contacted.

The joint session of the assembly invited Buhari, on Thursday, to explain how his administration plans to get the country out of the economic recession.

According to Shehu, it is wrong for the National Assembly to invite Buhari through newspaper reports.

He said, “There is a channel of communication between the Presidency and the National Assembly which we utilize.

“So, if they communicate to us through those channels, then the presidency will reply.

“But as it is now, it remains a newspaper report and newspaper is not a means of communication for the presidency. When they communicate, the presidency will also communicate back.”
