You Have Exceptional Ability To Deliver, Kyari Extols Qualities Of Newly Appointed NNPC GED, Katagum

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mr Mele Kyari has expressed confidence in the ability of the newly appointed Group Executive Director of the Corporation in charge of Corporate Services Aisha Ahmadu-Katagum to deliver in her new position.

Kyari said this on Saturday night during a dinner organised to celebrate her appointment as GED, Corporate Services.

Ahmadu-Katagum was newly promoted during the recent repositioning exercise that was done in the NNPC as part of bold move to strategically reposition the Corporation to effectively take advantage of the global oil market for profitability in line with the mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari.
 
 
The massive promotions and redeployments was sequel to existing vacancies occasioned by statutory retirements of some top management staff, which had hitherto not been filled.
 

The current repositioning also saw the Corporation changing the nomenclature of Chief Operating Officers (COOs) to Group Executive Directors.  

Under the repositioning exercise, Ahmadu-Katagum was upgraded from Group General Manager, Supply Chain Management to Group Executive Director in charge of Corporate Services.
 
 
Katagum is an experienced Accountant with rich pedigree in commercials, shipping, and supply chain management.
 
 
Over the last three decades, Katagum has served NNPC in various capacities including General Manager Shipping where she championed the implementation of the NNPC Shipping Strategy.

As GGM, Supply Chain Management, she managed the end-to-end strategic sourcing for the Corporation while driving standardization of procurement processes to reduce cost

Speaking at the dinner, Kyari congratulated the GED on her elevation, adding that it was one that was deserving because of her commitment and exceptional quality to deliver on tasks assigned to her.

He said, “I must say that I am very happy to be here, this is our family and we have worked together with my colleague at the Corporate Services.

“Let me tell you something, I am a very hasty person and I am in a rush, when I feel that I am in a rush and sometimes give her a call that Aisha how to do feel about this, she has a way of slowing me down and that is one gift that she has and you will never regret when she slows you down.

“That is very good. And of course competence is everything. Everyone has said it, no one can head the corporate services in this company without being competent and more so for a lady. You know typically they said it’s a man’s world but I ve also learnt that there are exceptional ladies everywhere and she is one of them.

“Therefore I congratulate you, it (promotion)has nothing to do with me but on your ability to deliver on tasks, on costs and on schedule and your exceptional ability to perform.

“Please enjoy your tenure, do your best for all of us and you have the right type of people to work with and we are relying on you to deliver.”
