‘You Paid Your Dues!’ Football Fans Eulogize Mikel Obi As He Retires

Football fans have showered praises on Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi following his retirement from International Football.

Obi, who took to his Instagram handle to announce his exit, expressed his appreciation to “the national team for placing me on the world arena and giving me an opportunity to show my skill and have an incredible National and International career.”

Mikel, 32, who retired after 88 caps for the country, said it’s time he retires from National team and let the youth take over.

Mikel came to limelight at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship in Netherlands where he was awarded 2nd best player of the Tournament after Messi.
